In ancient Greece, Zeas Marina was the largest naval base of Athens. It was named after the cereal Zea (Triticum dicoccum).
During the Turkish occupation, its name was changed into Pasalimani (Port of the Pasha), since the port itself, as well as the surrounding area, came under the jurisdiction of the Pasha of Euboia.
Today, Zeas Marina is the second largest port of Piraeus, housing not only yachts, but also sporting facilities as well as the Hellenic Maritime Musem.
Also known as Pashalimani, it is one of the most popular areas of Athens for its nightlife. A series of restaurants, coffeehouses and stores, sit along its coast. It’s within walking distance from the Kanari Square, the Zea cinema and the Aulaia theater.
